OVERVIEWThis year's ACM Symposium on Software Visualization (SOFTVIS'06) will host a software visualization challenge. The SOFTVIS Challenge brings together researchers and practitioners who are interested in applying, comparing, and challenging their software visualization tools and approaches on software repositories for two common open source projects Mozilla (C,C++) and Eclipse (Java). The data sources of both open source projects are available online and can be downloaded from the projects web sites: PARTICIPATIONParticipating in the challenge is straight forward:
SUBMISSION DETAILSThe challenge report describes the results of your work. The report should cover the following aspects: underlying theory (preferably with references to your previous work or related work), description of the tool used, visualization and derived results, and conclusions. Reports should not exceed one US Letter size page and be in ACM 2-columns format. Authors should prepare and electronically submit a PDF version of their challenge report following the instructions for authors of conferences sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH. Report submission is via email to: challenge@softvis.org Reports are due on June 23, 2006 (Apia Time). Each report will undergo a thorough review and accepted challenge reports will be published in the ACM digital library as part of the SOFTVIS 2006 proceedings. The authors of accepted papers will be invited to give a presentation and live demo on-site at the SOFTVIS conference in the special SOFTVIS Challenge track. The best presentation (according to the vote of the audience) will be awarded.
